SARAJEVO, February 12 (FENA) – The Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH, Fadil Novalić, explained at a press conference that he had suspended the Government session on February 8 at the moment when, at the proposal of Finance Minister Jelka Milićević, they were supposed to discuss the annulment of the open competition for the position of director and deputy director of the FBiH Tax Administration.

He said he had decided to suspend the session because he wanted to protect the principles of publicity, legality and transparency of the work of the Government.

The only candidate who passed the eliminatory written exam was Šerif Isović, on a which a notice from the Civil Service Agency arrived, Mr. Novalić said.

The Civil Service Agency submitted the list of successful candidates, with the first-ranked Šerif Isović, to the FBiH Finance Minister on December 24, 2017, and since then there have been no reactions or actions of the Ministry in the said proceedings.

“Such a proposal never arrived from the Finance Ministry, but on the contrary, an entirely opposite proposal came as a supplement to the agenda of the FBiH session (on February 8) itself. The proposal was to annul the open competition procedure on the grounds that after the completion of the open competition the conditions for the selection and appointment of director and deputy director of the FBiH Tax Administration were not met,” said Mr. Novalić, referring to the documents distributed to the journalists before the press conference, proving his allegations.

Mr. Novalić said he had decided that, in order to protect the publicity, legality and transparency, for which he interrupted the session of the Government, journalists themselves should receive all documents related to this controversial item on the agenda of the Government session of 8 February.

Answering a journalist’s question to who and why was trying to “topple” Mr. Isović, he responded that it is being done by those who do not like professional work.

Finally, Fadil Novalić added that after all these events, Šerif Isović had addressed the court and that he as the Prime Minister would no longer put that item on the agenda until the court decision.
