SARAJEVO, February 15 (FENA) - The BiH Presidency Chairman and President of the Croat Democratic Union (HDZ) Dragan Čović said today that when he spoke about BiH in Brussels and about the civic system of political organization in the country, he expressed his view “on how he sees certain threats, as others see some other kind of threats.”

He added that he understands the concept of civic organization of BiH, as it is advocated by some in BiH, but that he knows that “there are those who, knowingly, push this process in order to create a unitary state.”

“It is clear that some have the intent to have the dominant Bosniak entity on the territory of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, whatever they might be saying about it, and they have a totally different plan from what we are advocating for when it comes to our EU path, the symbols of BiH, multiculturalism, multi-ethnicity and everything which is our tradition,” added Čović.

In addition to this, Čović claims that his statements about the Islamic caliphate and Islamic state in BiH were misconstrued, “by some people that wanted to get something out of it all”, and then asked for everyone to take responsibility for the things they say publicly.

“The fact is that the Constitutional Court will annul the OHR's decisions on the City of Mostar. We have had about 200 imposed decisions in the Federation of BiH and I think that this behavior belongs in the past. The OHR formally still has the Bonn powers and can dismiss or appoint any of us, but I have my own opinion about it,” said Čović.

He believes that the OHR will not use the Bonn powers because of the fact that BiH today is striving towards the EU membership and is trying to obtain a candidate status, while still it is in a system that is in fact a form of protectorate.

He announced that by May this year, he would do everything in his power “for the majority people in FBiH, the Bosniaks, to understand the importance of respecting the decisions of the Constitutional Court.”

“I understand all the true and honest civic movements in BiH, but they are being misused as tools by some others, and those things they are trying to accomplish, they will not succeed,” stated Čović.

When asked about when the Presidency of BiH plans to sing the agreement with the Islamic Community in BiH, which the Council of Ministers passed two years ago, Čovič said that the this agreement is not on the agenda of the Presidency of BiH for the current year.

Čović announced that members of the BiH Presidency will be on an official visit to the Holy See on 24 February.
