Borovac expects agreement between BiH and Islamic Community to be signed soon

FENA Hana Imamović

SARAJEVO, February 20 (FENA) - Minister of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH Semiha Borovac confirmed at today's session of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH that the agreement between BiH and Islamic Community has been proposed and they are waiting for consensus among members of the BiH Presidency.

She said she hopes that consensus will be reached soon and that the agreement will be considered at a session, adding there is consent between Serb and Bosniak members Mladen Ivanić and Bakir Izetbegović, but not with Croat member of the Presidency Dragan Čović.

This was her answer to a question asked by deputy from Social Democratic Party (SDP) Danis Bećirović, who asked why this has not been done, when there are similar agreements with Serbian Orthodox Church and Catholic Church, stressing this implies that not everyone is equal, because the Islamic Community cannot realize the right like the other two religious communities.

BiH concluded international agreements – Basic Agreement between the Holy See and BiH, additional protocol based on this agreement in 2007 and Basic Agreement between Serbia Orthodox Church and BiH in 2008.
