MOSTAR, Feb 21 (FENA) - A delegation of the HDZ BiH Youth, with the president of the party organization, Mario Mikulic, at the head, attended a three-day meeting of the Youth Council of the European People's Party (YEPP) held Milan, at which future of Europe and work in digital era were discussed.
The topic of the first day’s debate were the resolutions proposed by the YEPP members. The Youth of HDZ BiH supported all the positive and constructive resolutions that would contribute to the better position of the youth.
"Unfortunately, the Association of SDA Youth, burdened by with the past, proposed a resolution on prosecution of war crimes in the former Yugoslavia, with a series of biases regarding the role of late General Slobodan Praljak and the HVO in the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, failing to mention all the sufferings of Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina and convicted war criminals of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina," says the statement issued by the HDZ BiH Youth.
The representatives of the HDZ BiH Youth together with the HDZ Youth of the Republic of Croatia pointed tothe unacceptable rhetoric, underscoring that it was pointless to return to the past and to initiate war topics, but to address the future and deal with economic issues, workplaces and concrete things that can help young people.
YEPP President Andrianos Giannou supported the speech of representatives of youth organizations of HDZ BiH and Croatia’s HDZ, pointing out the need to turn to the future and the real problems of the youth, adding that the purpose of YEPP is not to deal with war and historical issues.
The stand was supported by a large majority of YEPP members, after which representatives of the SDA Youth Assocition decided to withdraw the proposed resolution, says the statement issued by the HDZ BiH Youth.
"Once again, all the absurdity of speaking of the past and returning to the war was shown. The youth of the European People's Party showed a clear direction they are being led to the future of Europe, youth workplaces, youth policies based on positive projects such as Erasmus and Student Mobility, not the war and the past, " said President of HDZ BiH Youth, Mario Mikulic.
On the second day of the YEPP session, resolutions were adopted on the future of young people in Europe and specific guidelines for youth in the digital era, while on the third day, YEPP President Andrianos Giannou held a meeting with presidents of all organizations being YEPP members.
The future activities of the European People's Party, as well as the direction to be taken, were also topics of the meeting in Milan.
"The work of the HDZ Youth in BiH was also recognized by the YEPP at the last meeting of the YEPP Council held Belgrade, when the HDZ BiH Youth’s Resolution on Changing the Election Law in BiH was adopted, including necessity of adopting a new one. The resolution points out that political equality of the Croatian people is the foundation for the survival of European Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as that it is necessary to adopt a new electoral law before the 2018 General Elections,"says the statement.
