Support to plans of Ministry of Security of BiH in protection and rescue sector

SARAJEVO, February 22 (FENA) - Members of the Joint Committee on Defense and Security of BiH, led by Chairman Sifet Podžić, visited Operational-Communication Center (OCC) 112 today, which operates within the Protection and Rescue Sector of Ministry of Security of BiH.

During the meeting they talked about activities of Protection and Rescue Sector and OCC and representatives of the Committee were informed about situation in this area, especially about measures that are being taken to reduce risk from natural disasters in BiH.

They emphasized importance of introducing the number 112 for BiH, which will enable faster and more efficient reaction of emergency services in case of disasters.

It was emphasized that protection and rescue system has significantly improved since floods in BiH in 2014.

It was assessed that cooperation between competent institutions of BiH, entities and Brčko District of BiH improved, two specialist units and teams for rescue on water and under water have been formed and equipped and one search and rescue team, Ministry of Security of BiH stated.
