BANJA LUKA, February 22 (FENA) - The National Assembly of RS adopted today the Law on Secondary Education, but the entity government rejected the amendments proposed by MPs of the Homeland Coalition requesting that the authorities in this BiH entity recognize the Bosnian language.

During the debate on this bill, MPs of the Homeland Coalition asked the entity departmental ministry to recognize the Bosnian language in schools in RS, which is the official language of once of the  constituent peoples in this BiH entity - the Bosniak people.

An MP of the coalition, Nedim Čivić, recalled the fact that the Bosniak students in the Zvornik area do not attend school classes because the Bosnian language is not entered in their school documents, although the Constitution of BiH has defined that Bosniaks have the right to call their language as they wish.

However, the Minister of Education and Culture of RS Dane Malešević rejected the amendments of the Homeland Coalition and insisted that he has acted in accordance with the provisions of the RS Constitution which mentions "the language of the Bosniak people".

Despite the opposition from the Bosniak MPs, the Draft Law on the Protection of Victims of Wartime Torture was adopted, as well as the Draft Law on confiscation of property resulting from the commission of a criminal offense, and has been sent into public debate for a period of 30 days.

The ruling majority in the RS National Assembly, on the third day of the session, passed the Decision on the new debt of RS in the amount of EUR 51.3 million with the World Bank under the RS Railways Restructuring Project.

The RSNA also adopted a Decision on the amount of guarantees of up to 750 million KM that RS will be free to issue in 2018 to public enterprises and local communities.

Both of these decisions were adopted in urgent procedure, with an amendment under which the Government of RS is obliged to inform the National Assembly twice a year about the amount of issued guarantees and the amount of debt under the issued guarantees.
