LONDON/SARAJEVO, February 26 (FENA) - Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Zvizdić met today in London with President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Suma Chakrabarti.

As announced by the Council of Ministers, the two officials discussed modalities for infrastructure projects, as well as possibilities for partnership between BiH and EBRD in the areas of road infrastructure, energy, agriculture, tourism, as well as assistance to small and medium-sized enterprises.

Chairman Zvizdic thanked EBRD for the provided support to Bosnia and Herzegovina and said that this international institution has significantly helped the economic recovery of BiH and the region.

He also informed EBRD President about the political and economic situation in BiH.

Deputy Chairman and Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Mirko Šarović and Deputy Director of the EBRD Pierre Heilbronn, with the presence of the President of EBRD and the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the BiH Council of Ministers and the EBRD on cooperation in supporting investment climate and governance initiatives for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The EBRD President said that they are committed to improving the business climate and that the signing of the MoU is a sign that EBRD attaches importance to the achieved goals in BiH, and pointed out that the list of projects that are ready for implementation is encouraging.

President Chakrabarti praised today's signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on the implementation of infrastructure projects for the construction of six sections of motorways in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bosnia and Herzegovina has thus been placed in the ranks of the countries with the highest level of EBRD's investments in the Western Balkan region, thanks to well-prepared projects and the presence of representatives of BiH led by the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdić and Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Mirko Šarović, along with the adopted strategies and a set of laws on excise tax.

Chairman Zvizdić and EBRD President Chakrabarti also discussed the EBRD conference to be held in Sarajevo in May next year.

Bosnia and Herzegovina submitted its candidature for this assembly in 2015 at the EBRD assembly in Tbilisi and after a set of technical and other checks, the candidacy was accepted by 65 governors of EBRD member countries, stated the BiH Council of Ministers.
