Crnadak-Zarif: Resume bilateral consultations between BiH and Iran

FENA

SARAJEVO, March 2 (FENA) - Bosnia and Herzegovina's Foreign Minister Igor Crnadak, at a press conference after today's meeting with Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, said that it was in the interest of BiH to intensify cooperation with Iran in a number of areas, and that they agreed in that context that after a decade, bilateral communication at the level of foreign ministries should be resumed with regard to relations between the two countries.

He also said that the focus of the talks was on bilateral relations and the possibilities of improving economic and trade cooperation.

“In the forthcoming period, we will again consider the possibility of visa liberalization with Iran and visa facilitation for group visits in BiH, because, after a better linking with the region and the complete abolition of the Iranian visas with Serbia, there is a need to address this issue once again,” says the Minister.

On the other hand, he stressed that there were huge capacities and developmental opportunities in tourism because, after the abolition of visas with Serbia, there has been a drastic increase in arrivals of Iranian tourists to the region.

Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif stressed the existence of great opportunities for the development of trade and economic relations between Iran and BiH and expressed the hope that the removal of the existing barriers, particularly in the banking sector, would contribute to even better economic cooperation.

He expressed satisfaction with the fact that he received promises from members of the BiH Presidency and BiH Foreign Minister that BiH is working to address these problems.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran, in turn, is also prepared to help resolve the problems,” he said.

Good relations between Iran and BiH are witnessed by the twinning of cities, which, as the Iranian Minister said, contributes to greater mutual rapprochement and a better linkage between the people of both countries.
