SARAJEVO, March 4 (FENA) - Austrian Bishops Conference will be held in Bosnia and Herzegovina as an expression of solidarity, from 5 to 8 March in Sarajevo, and on Sunday evening it was officially opened with the Eucharistic celebration at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Sarajevo.
As Paul Wuthe, an editor and spokesperson of Kathpress from Vienna said in a statement to FENA, this is the first time in history that the Austrian Bishops Conference is held in Sarajevo, and this stands as a sign of connection and a strong link between the two churches.
“We want to exchange experiences, both through prayer and conversation. The main goal of the conference is to pray together for a peaceful future in BiH,” said Wuthe.
The host to the Austrian bishops is the Bishops Conference of Bosnia and Herzegovina headed by the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, Cardinal Vinko Puljić, who considers this, first session of its kind in Sarajevo, to be a strong message of solidarity.
The Catholic Church in Bosnia and Herzegovina celebrates this week as the Week of Solidarity, and at the same time, a campaign of the Solidarity Week with the Church and People in Bosnia and Herzegovina will be held in the Republic of Croatia.
Joint session will be attended by Apostolic Nuncios from Austria and Bosnia and Herzegovina, Msgr. Peter-Stephan Zurbriggen and Msgr. Luigi Pezzuto, and the host to the bishops at the end of the joint session will be the Apostolic Nuncio Pezzuto at the Nunciature.
