MOSTAR, Mar 5 (FENA) - From January1 to March 4, 2018, BiH Border Police members caught 520 citizens of high migration risk countries in an attempt or immediately after the illegal crossing of the state border.
In addition, through deploying police officers on the border line with Montenegro and Serbia, another 458 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the border with BiH, says the statement issued by the Border Police of BiH.
"Beside the measure of deterring illegal migrants from crossing the border, the BiH Border Police members conduct permanent patrols, surveillance and observations, control of spaces of cargo vehicles as well as mixed patrols along BiH's border with neighboring countries, " says the statement issued by the Director of BiH Border Police Zoran Galic.
The largest number of illegal migrants was found in the areas of Trebinje, Gacko, Visegrad, Zvornik, Bratunac, Velika Kladusa, Bijeljina, Bihac, and smaller number in the areas of Brcko, Foca, Posusje, Capljina and Grude.
Considering that the increased number of illegal migrants was discovered in the eastern Herzegovina, Zvornik, Bratunac, Visegrad and Velika Kladusa, additional number of police officeers has been deployed and specialist equipment sent from other units of the Border Police to the units where there is a need for their engagement.
The discovered illegal migrants come from the following countries: Syria 156, Libya 68, Pakistan 52, Afghanistan 51, Palestine 45, Algeria 30, Morocco 22, Iraq 17, Turkey 14, Iran 12, Tunisia 6, Cuba 5, Bangladesh, Jordan and Egypt 2, respectively, Somalia 1, and 29 people from Kosovo, says the statement issued by the Border Police of BiH.
