SARAJEVO, March 6 (FENA) - The Commemorative Center in Tuzla identified eight victims of Bosniak ethnicity exhumed in October 2016 from a mass grave Hemlijaši in Kalesija.

A spokeswoman for the BiH Missing Persons Institute Lejla Čengić told FENA that the remains of all identified victims were found in a torched barn in Hemlijaši.

According to the information provided by the BiH Missing Persons Institute, eight Bosniak victims were killed and torched in this place in May 1992.

"A number of burnt bones, plenty of empty shells and parts of burnt clothes were found at the exhumation. The site was mined, and the exhumations were carried out after demining," said Ms. Čengić.

According to her, parts of the skeletons of the killed victims were removed from the primary location, ie from the torched barn, and taken to the graveyard in Hemlijaši.

Ms. Čengić says that on October 24, 2016, exhumation of remains from the barn and from the graveyard in Hemlijaši was carried out. Therefore, a large number of torched bones were exhumed from the primary and secondary tombs.

"After the bone samples were taken and the DNA analysis was performed, the identity of eight victims was established. Among the identified victims, five are from the Vildić family," said Ms. Čengić.

The Vildić father and son were identified, Ibrahim, who was 57 when he was killed and his son Pašan who was 26 years old. Also, Ibrahim's brother Mujo Vildić was identified, who was 43 years old.

The oldest victim found in this mass grave is Mustafa Kuduzović who was 67 when he was killed.

The identity of the victims was established on the basis of DNA analysis and was officially confirmed by members of their families.
