SARAJEVO, March 12 (FENA) – BiH Minister of Civil Affairs Adil Osmanović and Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Macedonia Renata Deskoska signed today in Skopje an Education Cooperation Protocol with the aim of developing and promoting cooperation in the field of education between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Macedonia.
The protocol should enable better cooperation between the two countries in the field of primary, secondary and higher education.
“It is anticipated that students, citizens of one Protocol signatory state living in the territory of the other state, have the right to attend primary school and to prepare for primary school under the same conditions as citizens of the state in which they live. Also, citizens of BiH and Macedonia will be able to enroll in secondary and higher education under the same conditions that apply to the local population,” the BiH Ministry of Civil Affairs stated.
The Protocol provides for equal tuition fees for higher education, the same conditions as for domestic students in BiH and Macedonia.
“Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Macedonia will support the introduction of joint postgraduate studies among interested higher education institutions in areas of common interest. Exchange of experience in the reform of educational systems as part of the EU accession process is anticipated. In this regard, the two countries will particularly support mutual cooperation in the field of higher education within the framework of multilateral programs of the European Union and the Central European Exchange Program for University Studies (CEEPUS).
The protocol covers five academic years starting from 2018/19, ending with school/academic year 2022/23.
Minister Adil Osmanović is visiting Skopje as part of the visit of the BiH Council of Ministers' delegation to the Government of the Republic of Macedonia.
