Five sites declared national monuments of BiH

SARAJEVO, March 13 (FENA) - Chairman of the Commission to Preserve National Monuments of Bosnia and Herzegovina Radoje Vidović and members prof. dr. Amir Pašić and Goran Milojević brought at yesterday’s session decisions on the proclamation of five sites as the national monuments of BiH, the Commission stated.

These are: a historical monument - Mosque in Podgora, Breza municipality; architectural ensemble - Atik mosque in Ćive (Gornje Vukovije), Kalesija municipality; architectural ensemble - Church of Prophet Elijah along with the movable heritage and the Orthodox cemetery in Sedlar, Trebinje city; architectural ensemble - Khanqah at Oglavak – Tekija na Oglavku, Fojnica municipality; and the historical area - Necropolis with stećak tombstones at the Katica site in the village of Bistrica, Jajce municipality.

The Commission concluded at the session that the memorial complex Tjentište is to be included on the List of Monuments at Risk in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Considering that this memorial complex is on the Provisional List of National Monuments, the decision to proclaim that site as a national monument will be prepared in order to prescribe preserving measures, and so that the preservation project could apply for resources from foreign funds.

Representatives of the international community in BiH attended the session along with the members of the Commission.
