Measles epidemic to be declared in East Sarajevo

BANJA LUKA, March 14 (FENA) - Another three patients have been diagnosed to be infected with measles virus in Republika Srpska (RS), and since three such cases have been confirmed in patients in East Sarajevo, today the Healthcare Center in that city will declare measles epidemic.

When it comes to three new cases of measles virus in patients in East Sarajevo, these are patients born in 2016, 1993, and 1992, confirmed the Public Health Institute of RS.

The measles viral infection was determined by analyzing three samples submitted on 13 March at Kasindo Hospital in East Sarajevo.

“Based on the data submitted to the Institute, three related cases and one individual were confirmed in East Sarajevo. Bearing in mind this fact, the East Sarajevo Healthcare Center today will declare the measles epidemic in the city area,” the Institute said.
