SARAJEVO, March 16 (FENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Igor Crnadak received today the Director of European Cooperation Directorate in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Andrey V. Kelin. The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to BiH Petr Ivantsov.
Minister Crnadak and Director Kelin discussed bilateral relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Russia and the current political situation in BiH and the region.
They emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Russian Federation have good and stable relations that could be further enhanced, especially on the economic plane.
Minister Crnadak informed his collocutor about today's meeting of foreign ministers of the Western Balkans countries, which he hosted, pointing out that BiH gives great importance to regional cooperation because it sees in it the possibility for economic progress and infrastructure construction.
He added that Bosnia and Herzegovina’s desire to join the European flows and become a member of the European Union does not mean that it cannot simultaneously develop good, friendly and strong economic ties with the Russian Federation.
Minister Crnadak sent an invitation to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina this year, which would give additional impetus to the strengthening of bilateral relations.
Mr. Kelin pointed out that the Russian Federation acknowledges BiH's bid to get closer to the European Union and appreciates its position in international relations, the BiH MFA stated.
