SARAJEVO, March 16 (FENA) - Politicians and others in leading positions still do not understand the importance of the role of public relations and do not use it sufficiently, it was emphasized at the conference on communications and innovation in public administration and public enterprises "Focus" under the motto "Closer to People", that was held today in Sarajevo.

The purpose of this conference is to gather individuals who work in public administration and public companies to encourage them to discuss strategies, tactics and communications processes.

The motto of the conference is closer to the people and it will bring together representatives of both the public and the private sector.

The mission of the public sector employees is to be closer to people by implementing simple and transparent communication with the purpose of working together for the better future.

Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Conference Danijel Koletić said that the first step in improving the situation in this sector is better budgeting and financing, because today, we live in communication era.

Simon Jones, Managing Director at Westco Ltd. and Chairman of Local Government Communications pointed out that many institutions and organizations make mistakes thinking that public relations is merely issuing public statements in which politicians are made to look good.

"I hope it will be possible to use these channels to motivate people to change their lives and improve their communities, because that is the main reason people go into public relations and communications in general," he said.

Head of the BiH Council of Ministers' Information Office Mirjana Micevska pointed out that today's conference connected public relations officers at all levels who had the opportunity to exchange experiences from their previous practice and to address problems in this area.
