Chairman Zvizdić meets with UK Minister for Europe Sir Alan Duncan

SARAJEVO, March 16 (FENA) - Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdić spoke today with the Minister for European Affairs of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Sir Alan Duncan and thanked him for the support and readiness of the United Kingdom to continue supporting BiH and Western Balkans on their path to membership in the European Union.

Chairman Zvizdić said that bilateral relations between the two countries are good and that the development of relations between BiH and the United Kingdom in the forthcoming period should be focused on strengthening economic cooperation, primarily through attracting quality investments and through the transfer of knowledge and technologies.

Zvizdić said that the United Kingdom's friendly support to the EU and NATO integration processes of BiH has been especially important and that he is particularly grateful for the British-German initiative, which gave a new, positive impetus to launching the reform process and accelerate BiH's EU integration process.

He informed Minister Duncan about the current economic and political situation in BiH and emphasized that in order to maintain the positive momentum of the European integration process, in the context of the reform path and obtaining a candidate status, Bosnia and Herzegovina has to stay committed to implementing the agreed measures.

Minister Duncan said that Bosnia and Herzegovina has done a lot of positive things over the past period and that period ahead on the path of EU and NATO integrations should be used for the results that should manifest themselves through positive reforms in all areas.

Chairman Zvizdić welcomed the messages of Minister Duncan and affirming statements that the United Kingdom will remain interested in the Western Balkans region and would support regional cooperation, stability and economic and social reforms.

Chairman Zvizdić and Minister Duncan also talked about the forthcoming Western Balkans Summit that is to be held in London in July and agreed that it is important for the main topics to be economy and security.

The meeting was also attended by United Kingdom Ambassador to BiH Edward Ferguson, stated the Council of Ministers of BiH.
