SARAJEVO, March 21 (FENA) - Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Adil Osmanović met today in Sarajevo with a special envoy for promotion of freedom of religion or belief outside the European Union, Jan Figel, who reiterated the support that the EU officials express in terms of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s accession process.
"In this process, all communities, including religious ones, have their role,” said Figel, pointing out that religious communities can help build confidence in the country.
Minister Adil Osmanović expressed gratitude to the representatives of the European Union for supporting the EU accession process and expressed expectation that decision makers in BiH will be able put to use the recommendations and clear messages coming from Europe.
“In this process, as well as in contemporary BiH society, religious communities are also seeking their role. Our society is still trying to determine the delicate lines where religion ends, and politics begins," Osmanović said.
He stressed that religious communities can contribute to establishing a better understanding necessary for decision-making in areas where consensus is necessary.
The EU Envoy for Promoting Freedom of Religion outside the European Union Jan Figel, within the framework of his visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, participated in the roundtable on the topic "Religions and secularity in new relationships", organized by the Riyasat of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, stated the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH.
