MOSTAR, Mar 23 (FENA) – A member of BiH Presidency and President of HDZ BiH, Dragan Covic, reiterated in Mostar on Friday that the position of the party when it comes to the changes of the Election Law of BiH was clear, i.e. the implementation of the Decision of the Constitutional Court and legitimate representation of constituent peoples.
Asked to comment on yesterday's meeting of Bakir Izetbegovic, Zeljko Komsic and Nermin Niksic with the US Ambassador to BiH Maureen Cormak held in Sarajevo, who, discussing amendments to the Election Law in BiH, agreed that delegates to the House of Peoples should be elected in accordance with the 1991 census , Covic responded that the structure of the parties attending the meeting was interesting.
- This is in favor of what I have spoken for a long when it comes the political scene in Sarajevo. It is not important who is the left and who is the right, but the big question is whether they act from the same position, what may be good. The Bosniak people should have their political representatives both in the left and the right, and if they talked in that way in the US Embassy, I have nothing against it - said Covic at the press conference held after the HDZ BiH Presidency's session with the elections in BiH being on the agenda.
He reiterated that the position of HDZ BiH was very clear, i.e to implement the decision of the Constitutional Court, underlying that legitimate representation of constituent peoples at all levels was the basis for everything.
-We have enough time to talk. Everyone has the right to organize these meetings. However, despite all the support of those who help us from outside, and no matter who they are, we will have to make these changes in the parliamentary procedure under the model of the majority and other majorities that have been provided for by the Rules of Procedure of the House of Peoples and the House of Representatives - Covic explained.
Asked with whom the HDZ BiH should negotiate changes to the Election Law with respect to the unclear situation regarding the parliamentary majority, Covic responded that neither he had asked for anything special nor cared about as to who would be the parliamentary majority.
- I cannot think of regulating relations on the Bosniak political scene. Our aim is , through the potential we have at the House of Peoples and the House of Representatives , to say our position on any solution, - Covic said.
Commenting on the ambiguities regarding the allocation of excise tax, Covic said it was important that the Excise Tax Act existed as well as the accumulation of funds that would help accelerate road construction, pointing out that a solution regarding the distribution of funds would be surely found.
