Duraković: Joint list for RS National Assembly is the priority

FENA Kadira Šakić

SREBRENICA, March 27 (FENA) - The leader of the Response Movement, Ćamil Duraković, told FENA, ahead of the meeting of the coordinating body of the pro-Bosnian and Herzegovinian parties that will be held tomorrow in Srebrenica, that he would insist on reaching an agreement on the joint list for the RS National Assembly and that if there is no consensus among coalition members on whether to support him or Ramiz Salkić as president/vice-president of the RS, this issue does not have to be the subject of a coalition agreement.

“We are before a historic agreement. Great efforts on this path have been made by party leaders and there is room for cooperation and communication with others until the last moment. I continue to believe that this group will expand and that when others see the strength of this agreement, they will make a step forward,” Mr. Duraković said.

He stresses that it is extremely important to reach an agreement on the platform that was proposed and that everyone is on the same side.

“The second priority is the joint list because we will use the good result in RSNA to fight to change the government. The third thing is to support a joint candidate for the president/vice-president of the RS. Given that there are different opinions between the two prominent candidates - mine and Salkić’s, I am ready for the coalition to have no joint candidate and that no differences stand between the two of us on the path to the agreement," Mr. Duraković said.

He believes that it is important for the public to know which are the conditions of policy management within the platform.

“The Law on the Status of Official Languages and the Languages of Ethnic Minorities in the Entity of the RS, as well as the introduction of a Commissioner for the Reporting on Rights and the Inclusion of Non-Majority Ethnic, Religious and Linguistic Communities in the RS are fundamental bases for the protection of our identity and rights, which we will insist on in all future negotiations with SNSD and SZP,” Mr. Duraković points out.

He specifies that he will advocate for the so-called 'guaranteed minimum', in such a way that at least one seat is provided for all constitutive peoples in the representative bodies of municipalities where there is more than one percent of them listed in the census.

He also believes that this is a universal policy that should be applied in the Federation of BiH.

“An agreement has been reached on the establishment of the obligation of institutions to report on the structure of employees in accordance with Article 97 of the RS Constitution, as well as a new system of compulsory allocation for return, the establishment of a center for information and legal assistance to deputies, insisting on the appointment of a non-partisan minister of education and culture to implement education reform, advocating new policies in the process of facing the past and ending the practice of denying genocide,” Mr. Duraković concluded.

At the meeting of the coordinating body of the pro-BiH parties, which will be held tomorrow in Srebrenica, a joint platform of these parties at the RS elections will be presented, as previously announced.
