SARAJEVO, April 11 (FENA) – EBRD officials confirmed the readiness to provide loans in the amount of 38 million euros for the projects of transverse roads I and IX, at a meeting with members of the Sarajevo Canton government, the SC Press Department stated.
More specifically, the EBRD is ready to approve a loan in the amount of 35 million euros for the construction of a section of Transverse Road I, which includes the Kobilja Glava tunnel and the connection of the tunnel exit to the main road, as well as three million euros for the roundabout on the Transverse Road IX – connection with Lot 2C.
SC Prime Minister Adem Zolj, Minister of Transport Mujo Fišo and an authorized representative of Cantonal Road Directorate Emir Hot discussed the continuation of realization of capital infrastructure projects in the Sarajevo Canton with the Head of the EBRD Office in BiH Ian Brown and his associates.
The EBRD representatives said that the EBRD would soon submit to the Canton Government a proposal letter for the realization of this loan after which, according to PM Zolj, the Government will initiate procedures for urgent rebalance of this year’s budget.
The SC officials also stressed that they were intensely working to resolve the issue of property rights for the construction of the first section of Transverse Road I, from Kranjčevićeva Street to Halida Kajtaza Street, so that the budget planning for the next year could include financing of construction of this section as well.
The SC officials also informed the EBRD representatives about the plans of the responsible ministry for the reconstruction of the tramway and the purchase of new trams and trolleybuses for the public city transport. The Government shall soon consider these plans in the form of proposals.
The EBRD is interested in participating in this project as well, as well as in the technical support for its realization.
