Crnadak - Sakamoto: Japan wants to invest in concrete projects in BiH

SARAJEVO, April 19 (FENA) - Foreign Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina Igor Crnadak received today in an inaugural visit Japan's Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hideyuki Sakamoto.

Mr. Crnadak welcomed Mr. Sakamoto to Bosnia and Herzegovina, wished him a successful diplomatic mission and expressed hope that the relations between the two countries in the future would be further promoted through the new projects and activities that Japan would launch in various areas, emphasizing that it is important for projects to be represented equally in all parts of BiH.

Given that the political relations between the two countries are very good, Mr. Crnadak emphasized that it was necessary in the coming period to focus on economic issues and the convergence of the two markets.

To this end, he welcomed the upcoming two-country Economy Investment Forum, which will be held at the end of May in Tokyo with the participation of the BiH Foreign Trade Chamber, the Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA) and the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, as the most efficient way to connect business people of BiH and Japan and promote projects to potential investors.

He expressed the hope that the visa regime liberalization process would be completed for the holders of diplomatic and official travel documents of BiH, after which it would be possible to start with the visa liberalization procedure for the holders of ordinary travel documents, as well.

Mr. Crnadak informed the Japanese Ambassador about BiH's main foreign policy priorities - European integration and regional cooperation. He stressed that BiH expected to get the EU membership candidate status as soon as possible and stressed the importance of regional cooperation for the stability and economic development of the region.

Mr. Sakamoto thanked for his welcome, expressing his country's desire to invest in concrete projects in BiH in the fields of environmental protection, health, education and culture.

He expressed pleasure with the cooperation of the two countries on the multilateral agenda and the conviction that mutual support will continue, the BiH MFA said.
