SARAJEVO, April 23 (FENA) - Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH Ognjen Tadić said today in Sarajevo that Bosnia and Herzegovina has not imposed any sanctions on Russia and that it will remain so in the future.

Following the address by President of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matviyenko before the deputies of the House of Peoples of the BiH PA, at a joint press conference, Tadić said that the position of BiH is that international problems should be dealt with in accordance with the rules of international law, and that anything else is not a good choice.

Matviyenko said that during these turbulent times an inter-parliamentary dialogue is needed, and that during the talks with the members of both Houses of the BiH Parliament they discussed about all the segments of mutual cooperation in detail.

“BiH is an important partner of Russia in the Balkans, and Russia is interested in mutually beneficial cooperation with the two entities, the three constituent peoples and Bosnia and Herzegovina as a whole,” emphasized Matviyenko.

Matviyenko also underlined that the trade between BiH and Russia has risen 44 percent since last year, and that it was jointly assessed that there are large untapped resources for cooperation, and that efforts should be made to diversify trade in goods that will be of benefit to further development of bilateral cooperation.

Matviyenko said that Russian companies are investing in BiH economy, especially in the modernization of oil processing refineries.

She added that they also discussed the development of humanitarian cooperation and the promotion of joint activities in the sphere of science and culture, and that they were glad that they have come across similar interests from BiH partners to develop ties with Russia, which they plan to support wholeheartedly.
