In the framework of coordinated international operations, code-named "Taurus" and "Ox", implemented by the BiH Prosecutor's Office and the BiH Border Police, together with the partner agencies USKOK and the MIA of the Republic of Croatia, arrests and searches of the 20 suspects were carried out in the territory of BiH and Croatia.

These are persons under investigation and suspected of participating in illegal activities, transportation, hiding and smuggling of illegal immigrants from the territory of BiH and Croatia to EU countries since the beginning of 2018, acting as an organized group.

The investigation found that the smuggling of a large number of illegal immigrants, at least between 100 and 200, was committed, for which the suspected perpetrators took large sums of money, which reached up to 10,000 KM and acquired in that way a large amount of illegal material gain.

The implementation and conduct of the operation was supported by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and in one segment cooperation with the EUROPOL structures was achieved.

It was a complex international operation, which involved direct communication and cooperation between the BiH Prosecutor's Office and the BiH Border Police, as well as with partner institutions in Croatia, USKOK and MIA of the Republic of Croatia, and the activities were organized in constant communication and coordinated at the same time in both countries.

After the raids and arrests, the suspects arrested in BiH will be handed over to the Prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption who will investigate the suspects and afterwards make a decision to initiate the motion for detention or prohibiting measures, in accordance with the law, the BiH Prosecutor's Office said.
