SARAJEVO, April 25 (FENA) - Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey Mehmet Şimşek pointed out today at the Sarajevo Business Forum 2018 that it was good to hear that, at a time when protectionism is increasingly mentioned, Bosnia and Herzegovina is open to doing business and the integration into the European Union.
"Nevertheless, we are witnessing tectonic movements in the face of global geopolitics, which is a matter of much concern, but Europe is still a factor of stability for this region, which could be key to attracting investments," Mr. Şimşek said.
He emphasized that technology was moving at a high speed and that today we are talking about the fourth industrial revolution, and the best way to deal with this is to continue investing in people, education and skills, as BiH does.
Mr. Şimşek said that there were significant concerns about the long-term functioning of the global economy, such as growing inequality, tendencies towards protectionism, aging of the population, poor investment and the huge indebtedness that the world faces, but that he had just heard that BiH was one of the least indebted countries, which is an additional reason to have confidence in it.
“Turkey believes it can only grow together with its neighbors and therefore places great importance on historical ties with the Balkan countries, including BiH, which is why its stability, peace and prosperity are very important, and here we are here to help as much as we can,” Mr. Şimşek said.
He stressed that they continued to encourage Turkish companies to invest in BiH and that he was pleased to see that Turkish tourists make up a significant part of the total number of arrivals to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
