SARAJEVO, April 29 (FENA) - On the occasion of the session of the Foreign Ministers of 29 members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) held in Brussels and the postponement of the activation of the Membership Action Plan (MAP) in NATO for Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Democratic Front President Željko Komšić stated that it has become quite clear that NATO will not give in even a bit when it come to the Tallinn conditions and registering of the prospective military property.
“A very tough but sincere decision that the MAP will not be activated clearly points to the lack of dynamics in implementing reforms. I remind everyone that at the time of the DF's participation in the government, BiH registered 24 sites, out of total of 31 that is the situation we have today, which indicates the Council of Ministers' weaknesses in this matter. Time is ticking, and I am afraid it is ticking in favor of the enemies of this country,” Komšić said.
He added that we are approaching some of the set deadlines as well and that the European Union and the United States of America unequivocally expressed their will to resolve two basic issues - the continuation of the NATO path and the changes to the Election Law, while he also reminded of the tight link between these two issues.
“We all know very well who the main person responsible in RS is for blocking the registering of the property, and we all know far too well who stands in his defense of Russian anti-NATO interests in the Federation of BiH. It is exactly these two who are now trying, through changes to the Election Law, to deepen the ethnic and entity principles, which are also the main reasons why they are blocking the EU and NATO integration of BiH,” stressed Komšić.
He stressed that BiH's international friends from the EU and NATO have recognized the Russian influence in these structures in time, which is important, but to make a step forward, things have to be clear - "ethnic blockades and entity voting are the main obstacles to NATO path of BiH."
“We need from NATO and the EU, alongside the existing one, to give even greater support to the forces that advocate for the civic model in BiH, as this is the only way to speed up the EU-NATO path of BiH.
Russia, HDZ and SNSD are working together, and their plans to sabotage BiH’s NATO path can only be prevented by joint determination. The essence of NATO is in the alliance and the defense of the values of the free world, and BiH is asking for nothing more and nothing less than it deserves,” concluded Komšić.
