SARAJEVO, May 3 (FENA) - The Association of BiH Journalists, in cooperation with the Youth News Association in BiH (ONAuBiH), organized today on the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day, a campaign in ten BiH cities to draw public attention to the problems media and media professionals face in their day-to-day work.
ONAuBiH activist Iman Muratović emphasized in a statement to journalists in Sarajevo that the world was welcoming this May 3rd with a general trend of declining media freedoms and deterioration of the working conditions of journalists and other media professionals, while the Balkans has seen a serious drop in media freedom.
“According to the research of the "Reporters Without Borders", Bosnia and Herzegovina is 62nd out of 180 countries on the list,” she stressed.
In today's action, the activists talked to passers-by on the importance of May 3rd and shared promotional material on the World Press Freedom Day.
“We walked in Sarajevo, our activists did it in nine other BiH cities. The most important thing is that we are doing it in this way, instead of standing in place and waiting for one of them to come to us,” she stressed.
The Youth News Association in BiH brings together young people interested in journalism, and their vision is to be the umbrella organization of all youth media and contribute to the media literacy of the population and their critical thinking.
