SARAJEVO, May 4 (FENA) - The Council of Ministers of BiH today took note of the Information of the Ministry of Finance and Treasury on the state of public debt of Bosnia and Herzegovina concluding with 31 December 2017, stating that the public debt has been reduced by 744.59 million KM, which is more than six percent compared to the end of 2016.
The external debt has been reduced by 695.6 million KM, and the internal debt by 48.99 million KM.
Public indebtedness until 31 December 2017 amounted to 11.3 billion KM, out of which external debt amounted to 7.8 billion KM, while internal debt amounted to 3.5 billion KM.
When it comes to total state debt, the Federation of BiH’s share is 52.28%, Republika Srpska 46.71%, Brčko District 0.36%, and the BiH institutions’ share is 0.65%.
The share of Bosnia and Herzegovina's public debt in gross domestic product (GDP) in 2017 amounts to 35.6 percent.
The internal debt of BiH on 31 December 2017 amounted to about KM 3.5 billion.
In the total amount of internal indebtedness, the Federation of BiH’s share is 32.8 percent; Republika Srpska’s debt takes up 67.1 percent, and the Brčko District 0.1 percent, while the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina did not have any obligations on the basis of internal debt at the end of last year, stated the BiH Council of Ministers.
