SARAJEVO, May 9 (FENA) - Deputy Mayors of the City of Sarajevo Ivica Šarić and Milan Trivić hosted a reception at the City Hall for members of the Schnittke Moscow Orchestra, which will hold a concert tonight conducted by the Director of the institution Igor Gromov.
“For any musician, artist, coming to a new city provides musical inspiration, which is very important for every artistic soul. That is why coming to Sarajevo in this regard is very important to us,” said Anna Shchherbakova, Director of the Moscow State Music Institute, which Schnitke is a part of.
She pointed out that they are interested and open for cooperation, exchanges of students and professors, as well as holding concerts, so that students, young artists have the opportunity to gain experience and visit different schools and academies.
Deputy Mayor Ivica Šarić reminded that the cooperation between Moscow and Sarajevo has been long-lasting and will continue in the sports segment as well, as Moscow is interested in taking part in the in water polo cup.
“Sarajevo is becoming a top tourist destination, it is unique in its intent is to preserve beauty, the charm, the soul and its multiculturalism. We are showing all that we have continued living in our own way but all of us together,” said je Šarić.
The guests from Moscow were awarded the medals of the City of Sarajevo that symbolize multiculturalism.
Tonight, members of the Moscow Orchestra will perform pieces by composers such as Rossini, Vivaldi, Bach, Tchaikovsky, Rahmaninov, Haydn.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of the birth of Alfred Schnittke, a Russian composer of German origin.
