Signatories of Declaration of BiH NGOs: Demand implementation of judgements

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, May 15 (FENA) - Representatives of non-governmental organizations from BiH presented at a meeting to the Ambassador of the Republic of France to BiH Guillaume Rousson the basic goals of the signed Declaration of Non-Governmental Organizations, for what kind of state and society they are in favor.

The delegation of NGOs asked Ambassador Rousson to stand up, as a member of the Peace Implementation Council (PIC), for the application and implementation of the fundamental values that apply in the countries of the European Union, including France - the rule of law and the protection of human rights, which are primarily reflected in the implementation of the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.

The delegation comprising Adil Kulenović (Circle 99), prof.dr. Senadin Lavić (Preporod), Emir Zlatar (VKBI), prof.dr. Mario Pejić (HNV), Sretko Radišić (SGV) and Fadila Memišević (Society for Endangered Peoples) pointed out that the Office of the High Representative (OHR), and thus the PIC, was an integral part of BiH's constitutional and legal system, and thus along with the rights from this status, there are also obligations arising from the General Framework Agreement for Peace in BiH and its annexes.

“The obligations of the representatives of the states that are PIC members, according to the position of the delegation, include a clear and unequivocal demand that BiH authorities implement the final judgments of the European Court. In the event of non-compliance or non-response to these issues, the public may have the impression that members of the PIC behave in an unprincipled manner, which may again mean supporting those forces in BiH who are publicly advocating for secession and apartheid,” these NGOs said in a statement for the public.

Ambassador Rousson noted that this visit was particularly significant as the delegation includes organizations whose representatives come from all constituent peoples, ethnic minorities and citizens of BiH. He pointed out that France respected all decisions of the international courts and that he would not comment on them.

He also expressed hope that the meetings would continue in the coming period.

The mentioned NGOs announce that they will continue meetings with the ambassadors of the PIC countries, and the date of the meeting with the US Ambassador Maureen E. Cormack and the High Representative Valentin Inzko has been agreed upon.
