Over 60 migrants try to block Velika Kladuša–Maljevac border crossing

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, May 16 (FENA) - Between 60 and 70 people of African-Asian origin who do not possess any documents for crossing the state border, tried to block traffic through the Velika Kladuša-Maljevac crossing, the Border Police confirmed for the Balkan Research Network in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BIRN BiH).

The group of migrants attempted to block the crossing, but border police officers, in cooperation with Bihać police officers, established normal traffic through the crossing.

"The persons are in the vicinity of the crossing secured by members of the Una-Sana Canton Ministry of Interior," the Border Police stated.

As a reminder, the Facebook page of the Maljevac border crossing earlier stated that migrants are sitting and lying in the Croatian-controlled part of the crossing while surrounded by police officers. The Croatian police helicopter is overflying the crossing, while an increased number of members of the BiH Border Police is also present.

The Karlovac police administration told BIRN BiH that the migrants were “under the jurisdiction of the BiH state bodies" and that they have not crossed the border, BIRN reports.
