SOFIA, May 17 (FENA) - EU-Western Balkans Summit started in the capital city of Bulgaria this morning. Summit gathers chiefs of states and governments of 28 EU member states and six Western Balkan countries.
Delegation of BiH is led by Bakir Izetbegović, Chair of the BiH Presidency.
European leaders strongly supported further integration of the Western Balkans. German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that "Europe needs stable Western Balkans with good economic development for peace and security".
European Commissioner for Enlargement Johannes Hahn reminded that EU adopted a new enlargement strategy which confirms European perspective.
"That means that every state needs to do its homework. Let's use this moment to make progress on the European path," said Hahn.
Austrian Prime Minister Sebastian Kurz said that his country supports progress of all states of the region and that will continue during Austrian chairmanship of the Union.
