Zvizdić speaks on increased number of migrants in BiH

SARAJEVO, May 17 (FENA) - Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdić said at today's session of the House of Representatives of Parliamentary Assembly of BiH that tendency of greater number of migrants arriving to area of BiH has been noticeable over the last month.

According to him majority of migrants come from Syria, around 30 percent, Pakistan 15 percent, Libya 13 percent, Afghanistan 9 percent, Iran 6.4 percent...

He said that most crossings have been recorded at the border with Serbia, Montenegro and lately with Croatia.

"At the moment the most dominant route is the one towards Zvornik and Višegrad," said Zvizdić.

Our coordination team has become an Operations Headquarters according to the decision of the Council of Ministers of BiH and is now fully operating. It includes representatives of BiH institutions, but also from other levels of government because "this is not only duty of BiH, even though BiH institutions will coordinate and run all activities".

Chairman of the BiH CoM said that Draft Plan of Emergency Measures has been adopted, which will be amended after Operations Headquarters meets, according to proposals they will receive from other levels of government.

"It will be activated immediately in accordance with the budget, organizational, personnel and material resources," said Zvizdić.

He added they will stop the flow of migrants in every part of BiH territory which is not an official, institutional border state crossing between Montenegro and BiH and Serbia and BiH.

He said they will also send notes to Serbia and Montenegro, stating that BiH is familiar with the situation in those countries, that their migrant centers are being transformed and that big groups of migrants are trying to get to BiH, in order to stop these trends together with their institutions.

In terms of migrants who are currently in public area in Sarajevo and Una-Sana Canton, Zvizdić said they will be accommodated in appropriate centers.

"When it comes to Sarajevo, that is probably center in Salakovac, Delijaš and other centers, whereas former area of Agrokomerc will be used in Bihać," said Chairman of BiH CoM.

He emphasized they will continue following standards of international laws and humanity, but they will not allow further illegal crossing of illegal migrants.

"We are already preparing our plan, we sent it to the European Commission and all international partners so they can help us financially. Our plan is worth approximately 20 million euros and we were already given some promises from the European Commission, IOM, UN institutions, that they will help is equip necessary facilities and accommodation for migrants who entered the territory of BiH," concluded Zvizdić.
