SARAJEVO, May 23 (FENA) - Constitution of BiH emphatically states that its institutions are exclusively competent for the issue of migration, visa and asylum and that BiH normed by its Constitution that it will follow the international conventions and standards that regulate basic human rights, such as the Geneva Convention I - IV on protection of war victims with additional protocols and Convention on status of refugees with associated protocol, it was emphasized in a press release by Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdić to properly inform the public after statements given by certain officials regarding the issue of migrants.
Therefore, Zvizdić finds it necessary to once again remind all participants of the valid constitutional and legal provisions towards securing rule of law as one of the fundamental principles of modern societies and democracies.
"All officials in BiH have the obligation to respect and implement the Constitution and laws, not party instructions, and it is necessary to stop practice that has been implemented in BiH for a long time, which is groundless and arbitrary interpretation of the constitution and laws," he underlined.
He reminded that BiH has the Law on Asylum which regulates actions and procedures in case of a mass influx of migrants, procedures of competent services and rights and protection migrants enjoy.
Council of Ministers of BiH acted exclusively in accordance with its jurisdictions, whereas the Operational Headquarters for Migration will assume its role and give suggestions for solving further issues related to accommodation and protection of migrants in BiH, concluded Zvizdić.
