SARAJEVO, May 28 (FENA) - Emphasizing that Bosnia and Herzegovina is still in need of stronger support from the international community on its road of implementing reforms, deputy chairmen of the House of Representatives and House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly (BiHPA), Šefik Džaferović and Safet Softić, at today's meeting with members of the British Parliament Delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) to discuss the prospects of improving bilateral relations between BiH and Great Britain, urged Great Britain to remain among the countries that continue to assist with their independent, impartial and benevolent mediation in political disputes in BiH.
Members of the Delegation, led by Nigel Evans, the chairman of the Delegation of the British Parliament to the IPU, showed a significant interest during the meeting for the overall political situation in BiH, with particular reference to the functioning of the BiHPA and the way decisions are made in state institutions.
Parliamentarians from both houses of the British Parliament were also interested in the process of European and Euro-Atlantic integration of BiH, as well as the dynamics of reforms carried out within these integration processes.
The deputy chairmen of both houses of the BiHPA welcomed the visit and the strong interest that Great Britain and the representatives of the country's highest legislative institution show for BiH, and stressed that reform processes in BiH, despite various blockades, were progressing step by step towards the desired goal - membership in the European Union and NATO.
British MPs have expressed interest in strengthening the inter-parliamentary cooperation through the meetings of parliamentary delegations in international organizations and through the official exchange of visits by the leaders of both houses of the BiH PA and the British Parliament, the BiHPA Public Relations Department said.
