Minasi and Kazazović meet to discuss growing interest in Italian language

SARAJEVO, June 14 (FENA) - Ambassador of Italy to BiH Nicola Minasi met with Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Sarajevo Canton Elvir Kazazović yesterday to discuss growing interest in Italian language.

Ambassador Minasi thanked Minister Kazazović for ongoing support in promoting Italian language, especially in the light of the first Congress of Italianists of BiH held in Zenica last March, which gathered all Italian professors and delegations of students and secondary students who are studying this language for the first time, Embassy of Italy in BiH stated.

Ambassador Minasi also thanked the minister for support in sensitizing schools that could enjoy the exhibition "Vedute Venice" from the collection of artworks of Intesa Sanpaolo at the City Hall for free thanks to support of the Embassy of Italy in Sarajevo and Intesa Sanpaolo Bank BiH.

Meeting was an opportunity to once again confirm importance of master's program in human rights ERMA financed by the European Union, with annual contribution of Government of Italy amounting to 150 000 euros, which was jointly launched and organized by universities in Sarajevo and Bologna in 2001.

Minister Kazazović and Ambassador Minasi also agreed three additional projects in area of education.

They also agreed to launch experimental bilingual lessons in grammar schools "Prva gimnazija" and "Druga gimnazija" in Sarajevo, where Italian language has been studied for several years.

Third item will be introducing Italian language lesson in elementary schools as the second foreign language.

Italian companies employ more than 10.000 persons in BiH and Italy is a traditional cultural partner of BiH.
