SARAJEVO, June 19 (FENA) - International fair of energy, mining, environmental protection and associated industry "Energa 2018", eighth edition, opened in Sarajevo today, which will gather more than 100 presenters from 11 countries until June 21.
Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Mirko Šarović emphasized at the opening at ''Mirza Delibašić'' hall in KSC Skenderija that this fair has regional dimension and that it is an opportunity for development of energy sector, where BiH has made progress, but insufficiently.
"Several important documents have been adopted in this sector, but there could have been more," said Šarović, adding there is no framework energy strategy and law on regulator of electric energy and gas.
He said he hopes at least one of these two documents will be adopted this year, and the emphasis will be on the law.
"Reform is the only right path, and precondition is adoption of modern legislation and European standards," said Šarović.
Minister of Environment and Tourism of FBiH Edita Đapo also emphasized that ''Energa'' is a BiH brand, but also a brand of the entire region.
She emphasized there is a great number of thermal power plants in BiH waiting for modernization and which can give a lot more than electric energy.
Fair was also opened by Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to BiH Haldun Koc, who said that ''Energa'' is moving towards becoming a respectable platform for exchange of ideas and experience in South East Europe and it has a significant role in the region, because it presents investors in the energy sector.
He emphasized that Turkey strongly believes that economic prosperity is key to maintain stability in the region.
"Cross-border projects will secure even more platforms within which countries of the region will work for a more prosperous future," emphasized Koc.
President of Chamber of Commerce of FBiH and president of the Organizing Committee of the fair Mirsad Jašarspahić emphasized importance of the panels that will be held within the fair.
