SREBRENICA, June 26 (FENA) - Ambassador of the Russian Federation to BiH Petr Ivantsov will visit Srebrenica municipality on Wednesday and meet with the Municipal Mayor Mladen Grujičić and his deputy Nermin Alivuković.
"I received an invitation stating that Ambassador Petr Ivantsov wishes to meet with me as a Deputy Municipal Mayor of Srebrenica. Of course I have accepted to meet with the ambassador and then there was another invitation, where the ambassador stated he wishes to visit Potočari Memorial Center and honor the victims of genocide. Respecting the stance of the victims and Association of Mothers already familiar to the public, which is not to allow those who deny genocide in Srebrenica in the Memorial Center, I could not accept that invitation. We know Russia's stance on that issue very well, which vetoed the resolution on genocide in Srebrenica in the United Nations. For that reason I could not accept the invitation to welcome the Ambassador of Russia in Potočari Memorial Center," Alivuković told FENA.
He added he received unofficial information that the administration of the Memorial Center also refused to receive the ambassador.
