The Diaspora sends more than three billion KM to BiH each year

SARAJEVO, July 8 (FENA) - According to the data of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the BiH diaspora in 54 countries of the world annually sends more than three billion KM to their homeland, and representatives of the World Federation of the BiH Diaspora consider that this figure is even larger by 50 percent, it was pointed out at the ninth Congress of the federation that was held yesterday in Sarajevo.

The Federation President Hasan Šehović says that two million Bosnians and Herzegovinians living outside the borders of their country do not want to stop at that figure and that they want their capital to be treated as investments in BiH.

“We want to set up investment funds, so that projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina would be monitored through these funds, and that would allow us to enter the economy of our country,” said Šehović.

Regarding the investment conditions in BiH, he says that they are being adapted to the investors. considers that they are adapting to investors.

“Things are getting better. I registered my company in seven days, there are difficulties, but they are being overcome. We have a favorable tax system, and that is one of the conditions that should be better used,” emphasized Šehović.

Minister of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH Semiha Borovac pointed out that the Ministry in charge is doing everything to create conditions so that BiH would have the best possible cooperation with its diaspora.

“Two million people live outside of their country, and we have become aware of the potential that the diaspora has. Last year, a team led by the Council of Ministers of BiH adopted the Cooperation Policy with the Emigration,” Borovac recalled.

She believes that the importance of the diaspora, in addition to money influx, is also in its scientific and professional potential.

“We want to direct this potential towards and in favour of BiH,” emphasized Borovac.

The organizer of the Congress was the Diaspora World Federation, and the main sponsor was the BiH Presidency Chairman Bakir Izetbegović.
