SREBRENICA, July 10 (FENA) - A commemorative session of the Municipal Assembly was held today in Srebrenica, where the members of the municipal council, the mayor and deputy mayor and people from public and political life, paid tribute to all innocent victims of this town in the last war.

Chairman of the Assembly Alija Tabaković opened the session and the attendees were addressed by the Municipal Mayor Mladen Grujičić.

“This commemorative session is our way to show in a dignified manner that it is possible to be unified and show everyone that coexistence in Srebrenica is still possible. We cannot change the past, but we need to build the future. This is our responsibility for the sake of our children, but also our loved ones who lost their lives in the past war. The crimes against all of the peoples in BiH must not be forgotten. It is up to us to warn about them, to forgive, but not to forget them. Anyone who has committed a crime against anyone else has to be held accountable for their deeds. Our task is to create an environment in which our fellow citizens will have a better life,” said the municipal mayor Mladen Grujičić.

Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Srebrenica Nermin Alivuković said that the commemorative session of the Srebrenica Municipal Assembly is a good way to remember all the victims in Srebrenica.

“This is another indicator that Serbs and Bosniaks are ready to pay tribute to all the victims, but also to turn to a common future that has no alternative for us in Srebrenica,” said Alivuković.

The delegates in the Srebrenica Assembly in 2007 adopted a decision to hold a session of the Municipal Assembly on July 10, every year at which they will honor all the victims of Srebrenica in the past war, Bosniaks, Serbs and members of other nations.
