SARAJEVO, July 12 (FENA) - Re-exhumation of the previously buried 80 victims of the genocide in Srebrenica began today at the Memorial Center in Potočari.

This means that the exhumation teams will merge the subsequently found and identified remains of victims that were previously buried with incomplete remains. The identity of mortal remains was determined on the basis of DNA analysis.

Spokeswoman of the Missing Persons Institute of BiH, Lejla Čengić, told FENA that among the 80 victims whose remains are being rea-associated, in the case of six of them there has already been one re-association procedure, meaning that the graves are being dug out two times to assemble the body parts.

According to her, the re-association should last until the end of next week.

The remains of these victims were found in mass graves in Srebrenica, Zvornik, Bratunac and other municipalities.

Čengić stated that the victims of the genocide were found mainly in secondary mass graves, or on the surface of the terrain, which resulted in incomplete bodies.

“Whether an incomplete body will be buried or a certain period of time will be given for the skeleton to be partially completed depends entirely on the decision of the victims' families,” she said.
