'Race for Democracy' held in Sarajevo with messages of peace and solidarity

SARAJEVO, July 15 (FENA) - The Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Bosnia and Herzegovina organized a symbolic sporting event named "Race for Democracy" today in Sarajevo, to mark a two-year anniversary of the failed coup attempt in that country. 

The start of the race was near the Embassy building, at Wilson's Promenade, and the Turkish Ambassador to BiH Haldun Koç, announced that this event would become traditional. 

He recalled that the attempted coup in Turkey two years ago and stressed that democracy has won. The awareness of the Turkish people of the importance of peace and the highest human values have prevailed. 

According to the ambassador, the message of the event in Sarajevo is also related to the values of peace, democracy, solidarity, and humanity. 

Ambassador Koç thanked the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina for providing support and solidarity with the Turkish people in time of difficult events for his country two years ago. 

The 'Race for Democracy' gathered mostly young people from Turkey, BiH, and other countries. 
Participation in the race was free of charge.
