SARAJEVO, July 20 (FENA) - The U.S. Agency for International Development will secure food for migrants in Una-Sana Canton (USC) for one month through the Office of Transition Initiatives.
Food, which will be delivered as assistance to the International Organization for Migration and Red Cross of BiH will secure food for 700 people for one month, which will solve the problem until a more long-term support is secured.
Food will be distributed in form of cooked meals, lunch boxes and milk for around 180 children in the next 30 days. Assistance will be distributed to migrants in collective center Borići and to population outside of the center who come to get food.
USAID stated that according to information of Ministry of Security of BiH, more than 6800 migrants entered BiH during this year and local authorities expressed concern over difficulties to accommodate great number of migrants, especially in Una-Sana Canton.
The most urgent humanitarian need is ongoing food supply.
The U.S. Government has secured more than 1.7 billion dollars of assistance through the USAID to support economic, democratic and social progress of BiH.
The U.S. Agency for International Development is leading the efforts of the U.S. Government in repression of extreme poverty and promotion of sustainable, democratic societies, the USAID stated.
