BIHAĆ, July 25 (FENA) - The EU Special Representative to BiH Lars Gunnar Wigemark said at the meeting held yesterday with the Una-Sana Canton Prime Minister Husein Rošić that the European Union in no way wants such a situation and will help find an adequate solution for the situation with migrants, that will be acceptable to all levels of government in BiH.
“I came to Bihać specifically to get informed about the ongoing situation. The European Union has secured one million euros for the humanitarian aspect.
The funds are operational since last week and will primarily be used for IOM and UNHCR activities.
An additional six million euros have been allocated for medium-term solutions, that is, migrant categories that sleep in parks or temporary centers such as the student dorm. We are for those proposals for a solution which are harmonized with all levels of government,” said Wigemark.
Rošić pointed out that up to 40 new illegal migrants arrive in the USC daily, saying that 50 percent of them have no documents.
“I informed Wigemark about the whole situation and I hope that he will help solve this huge problem. I do not understand some statements by BiH politicians. However, I still hope that the situation will be resolved soon," said Rošić.
The EU Special Representative to BiH Lars Gunnar Wigemark on this occasion asked for patience from the citizens of the USC and reiterated that Bosnia and Herzegovina must urgently improve its border control capacities.
