Serbia arrests former BiH Army soldier for alleged war crimes

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, July 31 (FENA) - Serbian police arrested Husein Mujanović, a former soldier of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, for alleged war crimes against Serbs during the 1990s conflict.

Serbian police arrested Mujanović at a border crossing between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia for alleged war crimes against Serb civilians in Sarajevo, the BiH embassy in Belgrade told BIRN on Tuesday.

Miroslav Kojić, a counselor at the Bosnian embassy, said that the embassy was informed by the police that Mujanović was arrested on Monday and was placed in custody after 10pm the same day.

“We were notified via a phone call that he was arrested on a Serbian warrant for crimes against civilians in the areas of Hrasnica and Sokolović Kolonija in Sarajevo,” Kojić said.

Serbian media described Mujanović as a commander of a detention camp in the Sarajevo neighborhood of Hrasnica, but this could not be independently verified.
