BERLIN, August 13 (FENA) - Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Zvizdić said today in Berlin after the meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel that the two officials talked about economic cooperation between the two countries, since Germany has been the main trading partner of BiH for a number of years.

He said that in the first half of 2018, this exchange amounted to around one billion euros and that the export import ratio was 90 percent, which shows that this is a balanced relationship.

“We talked about future cooperation and harmonization of our laws, as well as about full certainty for German companies in BiH in terms of legislation,” Zvizdić said.

He added that he will also speak with German investors, and that reforms in BiH will continue to be aimed at improving the business climate.

Asked about problems with illegal migrants, Zvizdić said that during this year more than 10,000 migrants came to BiH, of whom more than 6,000 left BiH and that the country so far has managed to deal with this number of migrants.

Zvizdić explained that there were certain information that more than dozens of migrants have departed from Greece and Turkey and will pass through the so-called Balkan route, which will require technical assistance from the European Border and Coast Guard (Frontex) and European institutions.

"We will continue to be part of an integral European solution to the issue of migrants and will follow the EU guidelines, and we will not decrease the standard of humanitarian engagement," Zvizdić said.

Merkel emphasized that Germany is committed to make the support of Frontex available to Bosnia and Herzegovina and that it is necessary to work on resolving the causes of the migrant crisis, which are not in BiH.

“Negotiations with Greece on this issue have advanced a lot while those with Italy will take some time and if necessary, I will talk about the topic with the prime minister,” said Merkel.
