SARAJEVO, August 14 (FENA) - The EU path of Bosnia and Herzegovina is an unstoppable process. Although there may be obstruction and temporary blockades, the country's European perspective is very certain, said the BiH Council of Ministers Chairman Denis Zvizdić addressing reporters in Sarajevo after yesterday’s official visit to Germany and meeting with Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Chancellor Merkel also believes it is possible during the incumbent convocation of the European Commission to create conditions for the candidate status of BiH and that the activation of the MAP is possible by the end of the year as a prerequisite for further steps towards the NATO alliance.

Zvizdić also stressed that politicization should be avoided in this pre-election period in BiH in connection to the provision of responses to the additional questions from the EC Questionnaire.

Chancellor Merkel and Zvizdić also discussed security challenges in BiH and the Balkans.

Zvizdić presented the measures already taken in BiH on prevention of terrorism and the fight against crime and corruption, but Merkel said that the law on criminal procedure should be adopted as soon as possible, in line with European standards.

It is clear that Europe wants true, and not only declarative, takeover of its acquis, said Zvizdić, and as a very important feature of the meeting with German Chancellor, he noted her message that the borders in the Western Balkans will remain as they are and that there can be no going back to that issue.

This, in Zvizdić's opinion, is an appropriate message to all those who believe that they can use the question of borders between the countries for their own daily-politics interests.

In the meeting with Angel Merkel, Chairman of the Council of Ministers received assurances that BiH will continue to receive support from the European Union in addressing the problem of increased migration inflow.

He also said he was encouraged with the data from July and August, according to which the number of arrivals of migrants in Bosnia and Herzegovina has decreased. Of 10,000 that arrived since the beginning of the year, about 6,000 migrants have already left Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zvizdić said, rejecting at the same time speculation about the inflow of hundreds of thousands of migrants into BiH.

Zvizdić also called for the issue of migrant crisis not to be used for "political purposes and election campaign in BiH.

In a meeting with German Chancellor, Zvizdić said that he also talked about economic cooperation between the two countries, which, according to him, will surely exceed two billion euros by the end of the year.

A visit to Germany, at the invitation of Chancellor Angela Merkel has been very significant because Germany, and in particular Chancellor Merkel, has been the key person for the renewed approach of the EU in terms of integration process for the Western Balkans and Bosnia and Herzegovina, concluded Zvizdić.
