Government of Japan donates equipment for eight BiH medical institutions (VIDEO)

SARAJEVO, August 15 (FENA) – Documents on handover of medical equipment for eight health institutions in BiH were signed in Sarajevo today, which was secured within the Grant of non-project assistance of Government of Japan for BiH.

Acting Secretary of Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH Biljana Čamur Veselinović thanked the government of Japan for this valuable donation and explained it is being realized based on agreement signed between BiH and Government of Japan, and it concerns support to BiH in economic and other forms of development. 

She added that Government of Japan secured around 580.000 KM for procurement of the medical equipment, which is primarily intended for sectors in area of surgery, gynecology, obstetrics and pediatrics.

Medical equipment is intended for hospital "Dr. Mladen Stojanović" Prijedor, Cantonal Hospital "Dr. Safet Mujić" Mostar, Cantonal Hospital "Dr. Irfan Ljubijankić" Bihać, University Clinical Center Mostar, University Clinical Center Tuzla, University Clinical Center Sarajevo, Health Center Brčko and hospital in Zvornik. 

Ambassador of Japan to BiH Hideyuki Sakamoto emphasized today that procurement of the medical equipment is only one component of a wider project of Government of Japan, whose total value amounts to around 3,1 million KM.

"Apart from Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH, Ministry of Security and Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH will receive vehicles for emergency cases, equipment for pipelines for drinking water and other equipment. It is planned for Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH to receive the hydro-meteorological equipment in near future," emphasized the ambassador.

Assistance that Government of Japan secured for health sector in BiH over twenty years has exceeded 82.5 million euros.
