BIHAĆ, August 17 (FENA) – By signing an agreement on the basis of which the Urban Agriculture project will be implemented, the City of Bihać, the Swiss Caritas and the GOPA mbH representation in BiH have provided all the preconditions for employing ten young people in Bihać area.
The value of the project is about 100.000 KM, and 80% of the funds will be provided by the Swiss Caritas. The remaining part will be financed by the GOPA mbH representative office in BiH.
In 2003, the Swiss Caritas recognized agriculture as a strategic branch of development of the BiH economy and began the implementation of projects in that area.
"In particular, this project aims to employ ten young people who are registered with the Employment Service of the Una-Sana Canton. We will give them free land lots to enable them to start their agricultural production, and after a while register their activity," said Mersiha Felić, the project manager from the Swiss Caritas.
Within the project, the City of Bihać provided two hectares of arable agricultural land in the suburban settlement Račić, as well as free advisory support to the users.
"Any employment of young people for us is a huge satisfaction. This is a good project, because we will provide young people with a basic, or additional source of income, as well as demonstrate the model of having a successful business here in Bihać - said the city mayor Šuhret Fazlić.
