Zvizdić - Al-Herbish: Finally good news for Goražde (VIDEO)

SARAJEVO, August 30 (FENA) - Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Zvizdić told reporters in Sarajevo today that the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) intends to "round up the financial construction" of a road project that should significantly reduce the current distance between Sarajevo and Goražde.

Zvizdić held a meeting today with the Director General of the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) Suleiman Jasir Al-Herbish who stated that he will begin preparing a proposal to the Managing Board of the Fund on Monday in Vienna, while Zvizdić expects positive news and a confirmation of the Steering Committee, in September.

Minister of Communications and Transport of BiH BiH Ismir Jusko was also present at the meeting, together with FBiH President Marinko Čavara, FBiH Prime Minister Fadil Novalić, as well as the Director of the Federation of BiH Motorways Adnan Terzić and Executive Director for Design and Construction Jasmin Bučo.

Zvizdić said that the construction of a tunnel for which the Federation of BiH has already secured money should begin in the next few months, and after that, the additional part of the road section that would shorten the travel from Sarajevo to Goražde to 45 or 50 minutes.

Chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers reminded that the Director Al-Herbish signed the agreement with the Deputy Chairman of the Council and Minister of Finance and Treasury Vjekoslav Bevanda this morning on the financing of the construction of a road section from Nemila to Donja Gračanica on the Corridor 5-C.

At the meeting with Suleiman Jasir Al-Herbish, besides the road consecution between the capital of BH and Goražde, the BiH representatives also talked about further investments of the Fund in the energy sector in BiH.

Zvizdić announced the preparation of a proposal related to energy projects efficiency. This implies the design of a financing model at the state level, which would then be transferred to the lower levels of government.

"We remain open to project proposals in the transport and energy sectors," said Suleiman Jasir Al-Herbish.

Officials from the Council of Ministers of BiH and the OPEC International Development Fund also discussed the possibilities of new employment, i.e. jumpstarting small and medium-sized companies in the IT sector.
